The presenter will present for 30-40 minutes followed by question and answer/discussion.
Human service professionals frequently work with patients and clients who struggle with feelings of depression, anxiety, hopelessness, inadequacy, and loneliness. Professor David Stefan has worked as a therapist, career coach, college instructor, and program development specialist for more than a decade when he set out on an extended global research expedition working and living in 20 states and 12 countries on six continents. From this “12 Months to Live” vocational exploration project, he has gained life experience in multicultural settings to supplement his academic work in the field of psychology, health and wellness, and philosophy. Mental health interventions frequently address negative symptoms while neglecting practices that can build resiliency. This workshop will enhance attendee’s knowledge of Positive Psychology, defined as “the scientific study of what makes life worth living.”
The goal of this presentation is to
- Explore the research, concepts and practices of positive psychology
- Identify personal or professional needs, interests and strengths to support positive psychology practice.
- Develop relevant positive psychology interventions to enhance personal well-being and meaning.
