January 2025 CE Live Webinar

Free Live, interactive ACHHS Zoom webinar on an important topic for Christians working with veterans or working in government or secular settings. The co-presenters are Dr. James Phelan and Janet Knowlton. This one hour synchronous learning session will be on Monday, April 28, 2025 @6-7PM Central Time (4pm Pacific, 5pm Mountain, 7pm Eastern). Presenter James Phelan, PsyD, MBA, LCSW, is a program coordinator at the Veterans Health Administration in Columbus, Ohio. He is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (BCD) and an Internationally Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. He is the author of two books, The Addictions Recovery Workbook: 101 Practical Exercises for Individuals and Groups and The Stages of Change Workbook: Practical Exercises for Personal Awareness and Change. He adjunct teaches for Liberty University, Indiana Wesleyan University, and Grand Canyon University. He is the Board Secretary to the Association for Christians in Health and Human Services (ACHHS).
Presenter Janet Knowlton, MSW, LICSW, has worked in the field of social for over 30 years which includes 10 years as a hospital social worker working on the ICU, medical/surgical wards as well as in the E.R. She is employed by the Veterans Administration where she worked for 8 years in their Home Base Primary Care Program visiting elderly veterans and their caregivers. Presently, she works in the Worcester VA Outpatient Clinic as a Primary Care Social Worker. She is also a woman veteran and served for three years in Frankfurt, Germany as a court reporter with the Judge Advocate General (JAG). 
Learning Objectives – Participants will be able to:
  • identify and formulate at least two practical strategies for fostering professional integrity and ethical grounding;

  • demonstrate the ability to outline a framework for conducting bio-psycho-spiritual assessments that honors clients’ dignity, values, and self-determination;

  • identify at least one metric that includes spirituality that assists in assessment in a secular workplace which is ethical, and culturally sensitive;

  • identify at least two practical strategies for fostering trust and rapport with clients and colleagues

Kim Parker, EdD, LCSW, is the facilitator or host for the webinar. This hour-long live interactive webinar will include a 45-50-minute presentation preceding a live Q&A discussion session where attendees can interact with the presenter. Some presenters will allow for interactions during their workshop as well.
 
CE Information: To receive the CE certificate for this webinar, **link is updated pay an $8 processing on our Square website. **the Square payment link is now updated**. The payment deadline is the day before of the live event. No refunds are available for cancellations by the registrant. Should ACHHS need to cancel a live webinar event, paid registrants will be given a choice of receiving credit toward a future comparable CE event or a full refund. Each participant who desires to earn a CE certificate must
 
1) sign in and out of the chatroom with your full name, license and state, 
2) stay for the whole session,
3) complete a session evaluation form after the session, and
4) pay the $8 CE processing fee.
 
With the completion of #1-#4, a CE certificate will be emailed to the attendee within 3 weeks of the evaluation submission date. A recording of this webinar will be available to ACHHS members in the members-only archive on our website. However, at this time, we are not offering CEs for recorded sessions.
 
*The Association of Christians in Health and Human Services, #1899, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/11/2024 – 9/11/2027. The social workers completing this course will receive 1.0 continuing education credit.
